-Vanilla is the only edible fruit of a flowering orchid
-Vanilla beans, like cacao beans, have unique personalities & tastes depending on how/where they are grown. Vanilla isn’t one flavor! Vanilla contains complex flavor & aroma compounds ("somewhere between 250 & 500 distinct compounds create vanilla's complex essence.") Cacao also has hundreds of aromatic compounds responsible for its alluring flavors.
-Vanilla grows only in a narrow band between 15.5° north & south of the equator; cacao's band is only slightly pudgier at 20° circling the equator.
